Creativity is a force of Nature

No previous artistic experience is needed for Earth Art Therapy to be effective. Creativity is a universal language that is fundamental to our human expression, and nature is foundational in supporting our collective wellbeing and quality of life.

ECO

Earth based practices are derived from Indigenous ways of knowing that run deep across many cultures and countries. Ways of being, seeing, listening and responding to the needs of our Earth, and spirit. These ancient knowledge systems teach us that we are part of nature, and it is our role to care for Country, as Country cares for us.

Eco Therapy is born from these roots of understanding that country is a space where knowledge is learnt, practised, renewed and regenerated. Land is central, and country is living, and lived in like our bodies.

THERAPY

Unlike other forms of western therapies that focus on dis-ease, Eco Therapy brings awareness to the ways in which our health and quality of life are inherently linked to our emotional, spiritual, and symbiotic connections with humans, non-humans, and the treatment of our earth.

By immersing ourselves in nature, we can rekindle a sense of belonging to ourselves, each other, and recognize our place within the web of life. This process aims to expand the way we communicate with our bodies, and the larger earth body we inhabit. Emphasizing that we are not separate from nature, we are a part of it.

ART

Indigenous healing spaces involve imagery, dance, music, visual art, and artistic processes that are used as a way of sharing stories, honouring ancestors, and passing down knowledge. Reminding us that the creation of stories, and the stories of creation are fundamental to our sense of belonging and wellbeing. Art is not just a tool, it’s a living language that communicates, carries identity, strength, and resilience across generations.

Art Therapy harnesses the wisdom that is found when we express ourselves through images, movement, and sound. This way of working creates more accessibility and inclusivity for people who experience language, and communication differences.

THERAPY

Art Therapy uses different creative processes like painting, drawing, writing, clay, sculpting, dance, movement, music, ritual, poetry, and story-telling, to facilitate the exploration of feelings, and expressions of internal material that is often difficult to put into words. Creativity can connect us with a sense of meaning and also a means of communicating to others.

Guided by a qualified and experienced Art Therapist, this process supports healing by moving unresolved emotional energy through the body out into art, where it can be seen as a mirror to create distance, inspire reflection, promote post-traumatic growth, and build self-awareness.
